Contemporary Abstract Designs, Jewelry and Monoprints on Paper, Enamel, Metal, and Wood by Leslie Parsons
Life and art are all about growth, about staying on the upside of the learning curve, of discovering new things in yourself and in the world around you and integrating these elements into the person whom we each are in the process of becoming.
Similarly, my art is about the process of becoming. Moving through ceramics, digital art, printmaking, jewelry making and now into abstract mixed media (I’m old, so I’ve had lots of time to do these things) has taught me that the art has a mind of it’s own. The path to learning what that art is telling me has been pretty rough at times, but always fun, exciting and rewarding in so many ways.
My art tells me it is about juxtaposition in all ways. Light against dark, smooth against textured, soft edges against hard, large against small; these elements always talk to one another and they always say more when there is greater diversity. And they always tell me their name by the time they are complete. (If no name, art not finished). Thus, my life, and my art are all about process, growth, change, and the juxtaposition of art and life and the diversity therein.
